Lord Louis George Alexander John Cadogan (19 June 1891 – 1 January 1988), known by his courtesy style of "Lord Cadogan", was a British diplomat. From 1920 to 1929, he served in the Foreign Office. In 1929 he was appointed Ambassador to the United States by Ramsay MacDonald, served in Washington from 1930 to 1931, and then returned to London as Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs from 1931 to 1935. His wife became the first Duchess of York when she married Prince Alexander Edward Walpole-Gibb when he became Prince Alexander on 10 October 1938. Lord Halifax died in London on 1 January 1988, aged 89.
